民進黨副總統參選人蕭美琴今（23日）召開國際記者會，她在致詞時強調至少擔任過 3 次
發言人職位。所以此職位對她來說並不陌生。但她必須說，在此次所扮演的新角色中，肩負
的擔子更加沉重，特別是在當前國際戰略情勢下。台灣的民主、和平、穩定與繁榮是競選過
程中，以及未來幾年當中，必須肩負的重大的責任。
蕭美琴致詞表示，她為此次選戰帶來了與美國夥伴為台美共享價值與利益合作的經驗。並提
及務實主義和平衡，皆是她於華府服務時，非常重要的要素，必須平衡多方利害關係人和不
同的利益，找到我們追求的最大共同點，以帶來和平、繁榮、穩定，以及保護我們的民主。
以下是蕭美琴副總統候選人國際媒體茶敘致詞稿全文中英對照：
Good morning, it's a great honor to be standing in this position representing th
e Democratic Progressive Party as a candidate for the presidential and vice-pres
idential election campaign of 2024.
大家早安，我非常榮幸能夠以民主進步黨副總統候選人的身份參與2024 總統與副總統大選
。
Friends of the international press and media, I used to be in that position Vinc
ent and Karen are in. [Up until] the year 2020, I have been in that job at least
three times in successive presidential campaigns and elections. So
this is not a task unfamiliar to me. But I must say that in this new role that I
play, I shoulder a much heavier burden, especially under present international
and strategic circumstances. The democracy, peace, stability,
and prosperity of Taiwan are very important responsibilities that we will should
er as we move ahead in the campaign and in the following years.
國際媒體朋友們，我曾擔任過怡翔和雅慧的發言人職位。在 2020 年之前，在接連的總統選
戰中，我至少擔任過 3 次發言人職位。所以此職位對我來說並不陌生。但我必須說，在此
次所扮演的新角色中，我肩負的擔子更加沉重，特別是在當前國際戰略情勢下。台灣的民主
、和平、穩定與繁榮是我們在競選過程中，以及未來幾年當中，必須肩負的重大的責任。
Now for those of you who are Americans, today is Thanksgiving, and it's a day to
express thanks. And I want to express my thanks and gratitude to the people of
Taiwan for their resilience and commitment to democracy.
對於在場的美國人，今天是感恩節，是表達感謝的一天。我要特別對台灣人民的堅韌和對民
主的承諾表達感謝。
I previously served as Taiwan's representative to the United States for over thr
ee years. I've also played roles in Taiwan politics that bring me from very gras
sroots rural counties of Taiwan to urban Taipei. I bring to this
campaign experience, pragmatism, and balance. I referenced experience in the con
text that in former roles, I have focused on issues ranging from agriculture, ma
rriage-equality rights, transportation, balancing urban and
rural development, digital equality, and many other issues. But I also bring to
this campaign experience working with my American counterparts in the United Sta
tes on our shared values and interests. The pragmatism and
balance that I have referenced have been very important components of my work in
Washington, D.C., as I must balance multiple stakeholders and varying interests
, finding that largest common denominator of our shared
interests in peace, prosperity for our peoples, stability, and, of course, prote
cting our democracies.
我曾擔任台灣駐美代表三年多的時間，過去也經歷從鄉村到都會區的政治環境，這讓我為此
次選戰帶來經驗、務實和平衡。之所以提及經驗，是因為在先前扮演的角色中，我關注的問
題包括農業、婚姻平權、交通、城鄉的均衡發展、數位平等等許多議題。但我也為此次選戰
帶來了與美國夥伴為台美共享價值與利益合作的經驗。我提及的務實主義和平衡，皆是我於
華府服務時，非常重要的要素：我必須平衡多方利害關係人和不同的利益，找到我們追求的
最大共同點，以帶來和平、繁榮、穩定，以及保護我們的民主。
Throughout this campaign, our presidential candidate, William Lai, has reiterate
d his approach to international relations and our external partnerships in the c
ontext of four pillars, involving defense deterrence,
economic security and resilience, international partnerships, and principled and
pragmatic cross-strait relations. As I join his ticket, I also join his commitm
ent to these four pillars.
在競選過程中，我們的總統候選人賴清德提出四大支柱，重申了他對國際關係和全球夥伴關
係的立場，這包括強化國防威懾力、經濟安全和韌性、全球夥伴關係以及有原則且務實的兩
岸關係。當我加入他的團隊時，我也加入了對這四大支柱的承諾。
Now, the decision to come back to run for office was not an easy one, and I must
admit I had tremendous hesitations about rejoining the complicated political en
vironment in Taiwan. But now that the decision has been made, I am committed to
joining William Lai in leading Taiwan ahead and defending and protecting our dem
ocracy, our freedom, our basic rights and opportunities for our people to build
greater prosperity in our society.
我必須承認，回來競選公職並非簡單的決定，我對於重新加入台灣複雜的政治環境有很大的
猶豫。但既然下了這個決定，我將致力於與賴清德一起領導台灣，捍衛和保護我們的民主、
自由、基本權利，為台灣人民帶來更多機會，以創造更繁榮的社會。
I look forward to the trust and confidence of the Taiwanese people. I also look
forward to the continuing trust and confidence of our friends in the internation
al community. Thank you.
我期待台灣人民賦予我們信任和信心，也期待國際夥伴們繼續給予台灣信任和信心。謝謝大
家。

我國駐美代表蕭美琴日前返國宣布與賴清德搭檔參選2024年總統大選，而國語、英語、台語
都具備母語程度的蕭美琴，於今天也召開了國際記者會，並與眾家外媒記者有近距離的互動
